Tine Tempah is a rapper, songwriter and DJ who is widely considered to be one of the coolest Brits in the music industry right now. His debut album Disc-Overy was released in 2010 and was certified as a platinum record. Disc-Overy, along with his two subsequent studio albums, have given Tempah six UK number ones, which is the most by any rap artist.
Alongside his award-winning music (including two Brit awards, an Ivor Novello award and three MOBO awards,) Tempah has also become a key figure in the British fashion industry. He has acted as the men ambassador for London Menswear collections, has been named by GQ as the best dressed man of the year, and in 2017 he even launched his own fashion label What We Wear.
It’s easy to see why Tempah’s eye for fashion is so admired. He has a knack for choosing beautifully sharp tailored pieces, and certainly knows the importance of a perfect fit.
The real key to Tempah’s style, however, is his penchant for experimentation. He plays with colour, accessories, texture and pattern to turn classic tailored pieces into a look that’s all his own.
Here’s why we think you should take note of Tine Tempah’s tailoring style:
He knows how to work a bold hue. Case in point? Here he is an an orange blazer… and we think it looks great.
He’s got accessorising down to an art. As well as his trademark statement glasses, here he is in a suit with a perfectly colour matched scarf.
He doesn’t shy away from bold patterns. Here he is in a vintage-inspired houndstooth suit and a burgundy jacquard print.
He has a way of making traditional style jackets look fresh and modern. We really like the look of this pastel Prince of Wales tartan jacket worn over a plain white t-shirt.
He understands the value of texture and how much it can add to an outfit. Here he is in a red velvet textured jacket and in a luxe textured dinner jacket.
