Donald Glover AKA Childish Bambino is an American actor, writer, musician and DJ. His CV is long and impressive, and includes credits as a writer on 30 Rock, a role on Community and the lead role on the series Atlanta. In addition to all this, Glover has also released three albums. In 2017, he was named as one of Time’s one hundred most influential people in the world.
In recent years Glover has been awarded accolades at the Emmy awards and Golden Globes for his performances on Atlanta. These appearances on the red carpet have given him the opportunity to show off a whole new side to his style personality… and it’s gone down extremely well.
On stage as a musician, Glover’s signature look is often a Hawaiian shirt. This pays homage to his home state of California and his funk musical roots. However, on the red carpet Glover has demonstrated his flair for tailoring.
As you may have expected, Glover is not the sort to stick to traditional tailoring rules. While many of his fellow stars on the red carpet are keeping it classic with midnight dinner suits, Glover can be relied on to stand out.
Despite these style risks, Glover always manages to pull it off with aplomb. We’ve collected some of our favourite quirky red carpet looks below:
Think brown velvet should stay in the 1970s? Glover might change your mind.
Think dinner jackets should always be black? This sophisticated paisley begs to differ.
Think fire engine red is impossible to pull off? Here’s some evidence to the contrary.
Think purple is the wrong hue for the red carpet? Glover definitely disagrees.
In short, we think Glover’s eye-catching 1970s inspired style is seriously refreshing.
