Lin-Manuel Miranda is an award-winning composer, playwright, lyricist and actor. He’s best known for the creation of the musical Hamilton: An American Musical, which has enjoyed phenomenal success since it’s Broadway premiere in 2015. Miranda has also contributed to the musical scores for blockbusters including Disney’s Moana and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Miranda was born in New York City in 1980 and grew up in the city. His family hails from Puerto Rico and he spent a lot of time there as a child. His success in the entertainment industry has given Lin-Manuel Miranda the opportunity to campaign in favour of debt relief for Puerto Rico. He was also very involved in the relief effort for the country after the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria in 2017.
When we talk about Lin-Manuel Miranda in tailoring, the first image that might come to you is him in his leading role as Alexander Hamilton in Hamilton. Though we can certainly get behind his style here(!), we also want to highlight his more contemporary tailored style.
We really like three things about Miranda’s tailoring style.
First of all, he can most certainly pull of a classic look. See what we mean? And here’s another one.
Secondly, we admire the way Miranda incorporates colour into his look without it feeling like he’s making too much of a statement. Here he is in a green sports jacket, and here in a bright blue blazer.
Finally, Miranda is a pro at mixing and matching his tailoring. He’s often seen in sports jackets and blazers, here he is in a wonderfully elegant grey jacket. We’ve also seen him pictured in a navy dinner jacket and black suit trousers… and somehow he makes it work!
