Style Inspiration from Aziz Ansari

You may not expect to be receiving style inspiration from Parks & Recreation’s Tom Haverford… but trust us when we say that actor and comedian Aziz Ansari has been turning heads with his impressive tailored look.

Ansari first rose to fame as a New York City stand up comic in the mid 2000s. He’s since created and starred in shows for MTV, Netflix and Comedy Central. His first book Modern Romance: An Investigation was published in 2015.

In addition to a impressive list of award wins and nominations for his acting and writing work, this year Ansari was named by GQ as one of The Thirteen Most Stylish Men in The World Right Now.

Like all good things, Ansari’s look has evolved slowly over time. The preppy typical comedian look of his early work has gradually been replaced by a far more high-end wardrobe. From award ceremonies to street style; we think you’ll love what he’s wearing these days.

One of the things that we most appreciate about Ansari’s style is that it is built on the philosophy on minimalism. He knows that you don’t need an endless wardrobe in order to look good. Instead, he’s worked on creating a capsule of pieces he knows work for him.

Ansari says: “If you have a massive closet, you're kinda lying to yourself. If you have a bunch of dress shirts, you know the one that's really soft and fits you really well. So I think the goal is to build a closet where it's just that. I try to do the thing in the book that Japanese lady wrote about paring your closet down: If you look at something and you don't love it, get rid of it.”

However he’s done it, there’s no denying that there’s something impressively suave about Ansari. This is a gentleman who knows the value of a good overcoat. He also looks great in a statement blazer, has given us a fresh take on accessorising a suit, and has even managed to pull off a black and white dinner jacket. We rest our case.
