Should You Develop a Signature Look?

Have you ever heard of the concept of a signature look? This may be something you’ve considered as the prerogative of the rich and stylish, but it may well be something to re-evaluate.

What is a signature look?

A signature look is an outfit (or type of outfit: like a uniform) that encompasses the essence of your style and personality. It can function as a type of outfit template that allows you to easily reproduce a look you love and feel comfortable in over and over again.

Is a signature look just for the seriously stylish?

A signature look isn’t just for those who are very serious about sartorial endeavours. In fact, a signature look can be an excellent tool for those who want to look smart but don’t want to spend much time thinking about it.

Once you’ve put a bit of time and thought into creating a signature look, the whole process of shopping for and ordering new clothes becomes much easier. If you’ve already set the parameters of what works for you, you can then limit your purchases to things that fit within those parameters.

It also makes the job of actually getting dressed more straight-forward. Once you’ve created your signature look/style template, all you need to do each morning is reproduce a version of the look. If you know you love classic fitted tailored pieces layered with pastel knitwear, for example, you will easily be able to pull out the various components needed to create your uniform.

Where should you start?
