The weather over the long Easter weekend was a delightful reminder of what we can expect from the summer months ahead. Of course, soaring temperatures are all very well over a bank holiday weekend when you can chill out in the garden, but they’re not quite as easy to manage during a long day in the office.
If you want to make sure you’re as comfortable as possible during the summer months, you may want to take some time now to prepare your summer wardrobe.
Step one: wardrobe review
The first step, as always, is to take stock of what you already have. The key here is to look closely at the fabrics in your wardrobe. Linens and cottons are excellent traditional choices for the warmer months: both for suits and shirts. Lighter colours are also a wise choice as they help to reflect the heat instead of absorbing it.
Step two: consider your needs
Your ideal summer wardrobe will look very different from someone else’s. We can’t give you the perfect prescription for a summer capsule wardrobe without knowing your style preferences, preferred level of comfort and lifestyle.
If you wear a suit most days, you’ll need to invest in at least a few versatile lightweight suits. Depending on how well you deal with the heat, you may want to consider whether additional vents in your tailoring would be beneficial.
Step three: visit your tailor
An experienced tailor will be able to help you take into account your needs and style preferences in order to create a summer capsule you feel great in.
Remember to make an appointment with your tailor sooner rather than later, as most garments will have a six week lead time.
You can book an appointment with our tailors either in York or London. Simply fill in our online booking form and we’ll be in touch as soon as possible.
