Effortless Style for the Festive Week

With only a week to go until Christmas Day, your thoughts may well be turning to the festive week. Many of us will be enjoying some time off during the period, which is often a wonderful opportunity to spend time with family and friends.

Of course, the festive week also gives us the chance to showcase our style. What better excuse is there to break out stand-out pieces and luxe fabrics?

If you’re looking for tips on exuding effortless style over the festive week, we’ve got you covered.

We’re firm believers in classic tailored style, and the festive week is no exception. Depending on your plans, you may want to opt for a more laid-back version than you would for the office. Chinos are a classic-yet-comfortable choice, and they’ll work perfectly with a white or cream shirt. Forget about the tie for a day by the Christmas tree! As for footwear, we think leather loafers are the quintessential low-key choice.

With this as a classic base, you can add additional layers or accessories depending on the occasion. A waistcoat in tweed, velvet or silk is a great choice for a Christmas Eve dinner. A blazer is ideal for an evening out. You might wish to add a sweater in a festive jewel tone for visiting family.

Whatever you do, please remember that ‘novelty’ and ‘stylish’ are mutually exclusive. Sorry, but it’s true. If you really do feel the need to wear a Christmas jumper – or if you’re attending an event where it’s mandated – we recommend sticking to a classic fair isle jumper.
