Seconds away from our High Petergate store is a beautiful building with a rich history - York Art Gallery. Designed in a neo-classical style by Edward Taylor and built for the Yorkshire Fine Art and Industrial Exhibition in 1879, it became the City Art Gallery in 1892. The building overlooks Exhibition Square and contains the largest collection of the works of York-born painter William Etty. After an extensive refurbishment, it will re-open in Easter 2015.
