Ask the Tailor: Key Investment Pieces for Festive Party Style

Each month we ask our expert tailors to address one of your most frequent questions. This month we’re covering festive party style, and the key pieces you may want to consider investing in.

It might seem far too early to be considering wardrobe options for the Christmas party season, but in reality this isn’t the case. Tailors work six to eight weeks in advance, and if you’d like a new piece cut in time for the Christmas ‘do’, now is the time to start thinking about it.

An experienced tailor will be able to talk you through all the options and ensure you receive a finished garment that is perfectly fitted to you and your lifestyle. The only difficulty will be deciding which sort of garment to go for!

Here are three fantastic options for festive party style.

A timeless dinner suit

We’ve said it many times before, but we’ll happily say it again; it’s impossible to go wrong with a beautifully classic dinner suit. A well fitted dinner suit looks great on anyone, whatever your shape, age or style.

This is an investment you’ll be able to enjoy for many years to come. It will never go out of fashion and will never feel out of place.

A dapper waistcoat

It’s possible to make a big impact on a more modest budget. A dapper waistcoat is a great way to add pizzazz to your party outfit. Festive fabrics such as silk, velvet or tweed would all be great choices. Wear it with a classic white shirt to let it really shine.

A statement blazer

A statement blazer is a wonderfully versatile piece. It can be dressed up with suit trousers or down with chinos. It could even be worn with jeans for a smart/casual event. Just like with a waistcoat, we’d suggest choosing a festive fabric such as velvet or tweed to really turn heads.

Next month we’ll be asking our tailors to cover another frequently asked tailoring question. Sign up to our newsletter to make sure you dont miss it.
